Laguna Vista Lodge Laguna Vista is located just north of the Tropic of Cancer at the convergence of the great North American Flyways. This area is also within the northern limits of many tropical species. The bay and freshwater ponds draw waterfowl and wading birds by the thousands. Over three hundred species of birds have been identified here.

Laguna Vista is uniquely situated to guarantee you a birding experience of a lifetime. In this subtropical area where East meets West meets South, it is possible to see more birds in a day than anywhere else in North America. The fertile ecosystem of the Laguna Madre and numerous fresh and saltwater ponds harbor thousands of ducks, coots, geese, ibis, cormorants, curlews, herons, egrets, roseate spoonbills, rails, pelicans and other wading and shorebirds.

Peregrine Falcon Dense thickets are filled with songbirds, open grasslands are frequented by white-tailed deer, coyotes, javalina, bobcats and wild turkeys. The skies are filled with raptors including the regal caracara, kites and peregrine falcon. One can hear the eerie call of the chachalaca and at night hear hundreds of nightjars and owls, including the tiny elf owl.

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher Olive sparrows, scissor-tailed flycatchers, ringed kingfishers, clay-colored robins, green jays, yellow-headed parrots and many tropical species are seen at Laguna Vista. This is truly a birdwatchers paradise.

A 24 foot pontoon boat is available for unforgettable sightseeing, birding and shell collecting expeditions to the barrier islands or dozens of small islands in the bay and connecting lakes.

Most of our facilities are handicapped accessible, and all our guides are in constant two-way radio communication with the lodge.

Grand Hall Laguna Vista Lodge can accommodate 36 guests in spacious air conditioned rooms with double beds and private baths. The pool and the patio overlook Lake La Nacha, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and watching the sunsets. Lush flowering tropical plants and pepper bushes adorn the grounds and tiled walkways around the lodge.

The great room, which contains the dinning area and bar is warmed by a massive stone fireplace. The patio overlooks Lake La Nacha and serves as a trap shooting practice range. A silver oxide water purification system insures an abundant supply of sparkling pure drinking water.

King Rail Laguna Vista is an 8,000 acre working ranch, with an additional adjacent 37,000 acres leased for hunting, fishing, birding, horseback riding, hiking, eco tours or just boat riding on the ranch's 14 mile long Lake La Nacha. It is 16 miles east of San Fernando, Mexico or 100 air miles south of Brownsville, Texas.

There is a 5100 foot gravel landing strip on the ranch where fly-in guests can taxi right up to the the Lodge. Guests flying in on commercial airlines will arrive at McAllen, Texas where they will be met and taken by van or air taxi directly to the ranch. Air taxi arrivals are greeted with Margaritas by the friendly staff. The ranch is an easy 2 hour drive from Browsville, Texas for the adventurous do-it-yourself tourist.

Pool at Laguna Vista Lodge It's massive size provides guests with an incredible sense of privacy. This region of Mexico is a major grain production area and the thousands of acres of grain fields, saltwater marshes and native scrub brush provide an abundant supply of food and cover for the more than 300 varieties of birds that live on the ranch.
