Canyon Lake Bass Fishing Report July 13, 2005

Fishing Report: Largemouth bass to 4 lbs. are good on bone Pop-R’s and feathered Zara Spook Jrs. early on breaklines and points. Later use weightless watermelon seed YUM Houdini Shad, Texas rigged motor oil 4″ Berkley power worms and large minnows working submerged creeks in a shallow to deep direction in 8-20 feet. Smallmouth bass to 3 lbs. are fair on dark watermelon YUM Wooly Hawgtails, live crawfish on slip floats and crawfish/green flake YUM Crawbugs on humps and ledges in 5-20 feet. White bass are fair on live minnows, vertically jigging CC spoons or trolling white/chartreuse Norman N-Ticers off main lake points at night under lights in 10-20 feet. Crappie are good on live minnows and 1/16 oz. jig tipped with chartreuse Berkley crappie bits in back of coves or around brush piles and standing timber at night in 6-12 feet. Stripers to 10 lbs. are fair drifting comets and hybrid bluegills across main lake points at night under lights and good trolling 1-1/2 oz. Curb’s striper jigs in 20-40 feet. Perch are good on live crickets and red wigglers. Channel and Blue Catfish to 8 lbs. are fair on red wigglers, cut shad, Lewis King punch bait and Big Marv’s cheese bait. Yellow Catfish to 20 lbs. are fair on juglines baited with hybrid bluegills or medium goldfish along ledges in 30 feet.
