Houston County Bass Fishing Report October 16, 2005

Fishing Report 80 degree surface water temperature, water is 2′ lower than normal, and stained with clear shallows. Very good black bass to 9 pounds 13 ounces on a Yellow Magic topwater Popper in 5′ water off Golden Acres subdivision point by Brad Webber. A 7 pound 11 oz bass in 3′ water on a watermelon red worm was caught in the cove just east of the marina by Mike Needham with 11AM the best time for fishing. Good crappie averaging 3/4 to 1 pound each, some 16″ long from 14′ water and 9′ from surface using live minnows. Average catches are 11-15 crappie per person behind the islands and the tops of brush close to the pump station with 10AM the best time of the day. Good bream using live worms off grass beds. Good catfish using trot lines with bream as bait. Catfish off piers at night using chicken livers.
