Houston County Bass Fishing Report October 9, 2005

Fishing Report 80 degree surface water temperature, stained with clear shallows, water level 2′ low. Very good black bass with numbers of 5-6 bass being caught and released and ranging 14-16 inch bass on Super Pop R in 6′ water. 11 lb 5 oz. caught at 8:20AM Saturday on a white buzz bail in 3′ water in a cove on the south side of the dam by Brandon Thornton of Grapeland, Tx. Skip Young of Spring, Tx caught a 7 1/2 pound bass during a Clear Creek Bass Club tournament and Brad Irlbeck had 11 1/2 pound cumulative total of bass. Early morning before 8AM has been the best time for bass. Slow crappie with very early AM best fishing in creek channels on the southeast side of the lake using live minnows in 15′ water. Good catfish to 7 pounds on trot lines baiting with perch at dark and checking lines early morning. Fair Bream off piers and grass beds using live worms.
