Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report April 16, 2005

This week on Lake Fork the water level is full pool and the water temp. is 60 degrees main lake and warmer in the protective pockets. The grass is green and growing. With the passing of the new moon the fish are pulling up to the banks about everywhere in the main lake creeks to spawn. I would like to congratulate Jared Spratt on his Lake Fork Trophy that weighed 11 pounds even. He caught it on a Lake Fork trophy tube from Lake Fork tackle. One of my fine sponsors. Great job Jared! We are starting out in the back of the creeks with a stick-o rigged either Texas with a split shot or wacky rigged and then progressing to a tube or lizard. Craw worms are getting their share of the action. As the morning wears on we are moving to about half way out in the creeks and focusing on the points. Most of the spawning action is on flat points. Just look for the boats with a push pole if you need to know where the beds are. Cast past the light spots and work slowly through them. A word or two on running your trolling motor on the beds. The moss is thick in these areas so use a push pole. Look behind your boat to see if you are disturbing the area. You can see how much moss you are blowing around. If you dust out a bed you just killed a thousand fry. Use a push pole near bedding areas please. This will make our spawn more productive and you will be able to reap the rewards in the future. The north end of the lake is in post spawn and the farther you go toward the dam the fish are either spawning or in pre spawn. The fish up north can be caught on typical post spawn patterns. Top waters, spinnerbaits, flukes and the like will all get you bit. Till next time see you on the lake! Now booking May- June top water Carolina rig trips. I am booked full in April.
