Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report April 23, 2007

We’ll you talk about a bad hair day, we’ve had 25 mph. winds for the last 12 days! But the temp. has stabilized and the fish are moving up in masses to spawn. With the May full moon on the 4th we are seeing our main wave of fish hitting the beds. The fish have been hitting everything from top water to Carolina rigged lizards. Use top water baits early or all day on cloudy days. With top water baits fish them slow. Let all the ripples dissipate before moving. A weightless bait thrown around shallow grass or timber can get you hurt this time of year. Texas rigged tubes or freak baits are a good choice. Crankbaits are starting to get good. Stay with the shallow running wide wobbling models. There have been clouds of fry everywhere. The fish in the back of creeks are going into the dreaded post spawn. As you start out of the creek most of the fish I have been seeing are about ½ way out the creeks. The closer you get to the dam the further behind the fish are. The fish way up north are almost past post spawn. Be careful and wear your life jacket. I have only a few May dates and am booking June top water-Carolina rigging, crank bait winding trips.
