Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report April 4, 2011

This week on Lake Fork the water level is down 4 foot and the water temp. is in the 60’s. Wind was a real issue with some of my customers canceling and today we got 1 1/2 inches of rain so the lake will be stained and hopefully rising. The fish are setting up to spawn and with the full moon on the way Lake Fork should be in full swing with fish in all stages of the spawn. Grass is still basically non existent so the wood is the target of choice. Lilly pads are emerging and they will draw spawners. the edge of drains and ditches have been holding fish as well as the back of small creeks where the timber ends. Best baits have been the black and blue jig and pig and lately shakey head and weightless plastics in watermelon if it is calm enough. Carolina rigs and drop shots are working also. The fish want a slow presentation and are not chasing baits so we have put up the power fishing gear for a while. Hopes this helps you on your next visit to the great Lake Fork. Be careful and we’ll see you on the lake!
