Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report July 23, 2009

This week on Lake Fork the water is just under full pool and the water temp. is close to 90 degrees. The lake is in excellent shape for the middle of summer. We have had 3/4 of an inch of rain the last 2 weeks and has helped with the hot weather. The grass is emerging all over the lake. The fish have slowed down for the shallow top water bite but the worm bite has made up for it. Texas, shakey head and Carolina rigs have been the ticket with fish up to 6 pounds. We have had larger fish on but you know that story. Watermelon, blue fleck and junebug have been the colors fished in 10 to 15 feet of water. The bite has been from slight to very aggressive depending on the fishes mood. We have chased schooling fish with some success. Some will bite a top water yellow magic, some will bite a shallow to medium crank bait and some will bite a spoon fished through them.. The deep water bite has been good in the afternoons if you can stand the heat on Carolina rigs and spoons along with swim baits. These basic patterns should hold throughout the summer. I am now booking fall full day trips. Lake Fork can be unreal in the fall as the fish move up from the deep to gorge on shad in the mouth of the creeks. The lake is fairly quiet as many are deer hunting and the weather is just right. If you haven’t fished Lake Fork in the fall you owe it to yourself to make a trip. I have had my best days in the fall in past years and when it is right you can load the boat. As of June I have been fishing half days only due to the heat. I will continue to fish this schedule untill the end of September unless we have an early fall and it cools off. Untill the end of September if you book two half days in a row I will charge them as a full day to save you $100. Normal prices are full day $300 and 1/2 days are $200 If you would like to book a trip call me at 903-765-2155 or email me at jeff@gunnsguideservice.com Please purchase our sponsors and associates fine products and services: Ranger Boats, Mercury Outboards, Castaway Rods, Shimano Reels, Triple-Fish Line, Precision Marine, Costa Del Mar Polarized Sunglasses, Lake Fork Tackle, Service Marine, Owner Hooks, Bass Assassin, Weedless Lures, Pradco, Tanglefree, Superlube, Ron Kelly’s Taxidermy, Yellow Magic, Bass Pro Shops, Schumacher battery chargers and all the fine LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS including their two cycle boat oil Gunns Guide Service Joanie and Jeff Gunn 903-765-2155 611 Rains County Road 2610 Alba Texas 75410 jeff@gunnsguideservice.com www.gunnsguideservice.com
