Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report March 3, 2010

This week on Lake Fork the lake is at full pool and the water temp. is 50 degrees. This week we are finally back to normal weather and the lake is warming up and in great shape for the spawn. The fish we are catching are fat, full of eggs and healthy. The bite is still pretty tough with pre front being the best bite. Last Thursday was the best day of the week for us. I fished with the Bill Westrich group. We fished a half afternoon and boated 5 fish from about 3 pounds to 7 pounds and I had a full grown one come off a red lipless crank bait as the trap hung on a pad stem and the fish pulled off. A chartreuse willow leaf spinnerbait accounted for the rest of the fish in the boat. Cover lots of water keying on pre spawn staging spots. Most of the fish we are catching are from the backs of creeks where they narrow down and are 6 foot or less. The fish are still scattered but they should start stacking in as the month rolls along. As the water warms to the mid 50’s the weightless dead stick plastics will start to catch fish. Lizards, jigs and Carolina rigs should all be catching fish by the end of this month. Be careful as Lake Fork is full and the stumps are not showing . Wear your pdf as hypothermia is a bad deal and we would like to see you back at Lake Fork.
