Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report May 29, 2010

This week on Lake Fork the water level is close to full pool and the water temp is 58 in the main lake and the creeks are warmer to about 60. With Spring finally here and the weather turning warmer this week the fish are on the move to the spawning beds. By the end of the week the fish should be flooding in all over the lake to spawn. This week the bite has turned from a reaction bite to a plastic bite when the weather permits and a reaction bite. Yesterday wacky worms in green pumpkin put 8 fish in the boat with 4 that jumped off. Jerk baits and spinner baits are also good over grass. Fish the jerk bait after a front and spinnerbaits under cloud cover. We are seeing the Gar moving in and Carp jumping in deeper water. We tried to catch a bed fish but they were just courting and wouldn’t bite yet but that worm will turn so to speak. We even saw a cotton mouth in the afternoon. This is just a glimpse of things to come. Lake Fork is coming to life. By this time next week I expect to see a couple of program fish ( a bass over 13 pounds) caught in the shallows. Be careful out there as the stumps are under water with the lake being full. As with every year guides and motels book up quickly.
