Lake Fork Bass Fishing Report May 5, 2010

This week on Lake Fork the water level is full pool and the temp. is in the 70’s and warmer in the creeks. The upper end of the lake is heavily stained in some areas and the water is clearer in the lower part of the lake but I wouldn’t call it clear . The spawn is winding down with prespawn fish in the lower third of the lake and main lake pockets. The upper 2/3s of the creeks have pretty much spawned off. The post spawn fish are starting to recover and are feeding. The nice thing about this time of year is that just about any bait will catch fish somewhere on the lake. It is TOP WATER time! Yellow Magic is my go to bait this time of year. Early and late in the day the fish are hitting it good. Cloudy days are the best and the fish will eat the Yellow Magic all day. If you fish on a blue bird day use a weightless plastic like the stick-o or a fluke type bait. The worm bite is on and you can fish them either Texas or Carolina and the drop shot will catch fish also. Fish them from 6 feet to 15 feet. Swim baits have been a good choice. The deep water bite may be on but I haven’t ventured from the bank yet.e on windy days along with spinnerbaits. Chartreuse in the stained water and white in the clear. The share a lunker program (Largemouth bass over 13 pounds) closed the last day in April with Lake Fork producing 2 fish with one over 15 pounds! I hope this helps you have a great day on the great Lake Fork and we’ll see you on the water.
