Lake LBJ Bass Fishing Report July 22, 2004

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 83 degrees; 824.87′: Black Bass are fair at night and at first light along 4′-10′ breaklines just off the flats on black single spin 3/8 oz. Terminator ( spinnerbaits; black topwater chuggars like Pop R’s or Chug Bugs and black 1/8 oz. Tiny-T buzzbaits. Creek points are holding fish under low light conditions. Good spots for Photon “Bug Green” ( crankbaits and smokin’ green Devil’s Tongues on light Mojo rigs w/3′ leaders. Skipping a watermelon/red Senkos on a 3/0 “K” Wacky Hook ( or green pumpkin Snap Back ( tube rigged on a long shank jighead under boat docks produces during the midday heat. Soft plastics will last longer if you’ll use a drop of Pro’s Soft Bait Glue ( to the eye on the hook eye, and it’s great for repairs of naturally occuring tears in plastics. Stripers are pretty fair up to 20″ at night on 2″ Lit’l Fishies and free-lining live bait. White Bass very good at night to 2 lbs on 1-1/2″ Lit’l Fishies ( and 1/16 oz. Curb’s crappie jigs.
