Richland Chambers Bass Fishing Report April 17, 2005

Richland Chambers Guide Steve Schmidt Lake Report: Tuesday, April 19, 2005 Water Color: Stained Depth: Normal Water Temp: 68 to 72 Deg Boat Ramp: Oak Cove Marina Equipment: Boat – 2001 21ft Xpress with 225 Merc Rod – Hookhider Rods IM8 7ft Medium Heavy Reel – Shimano Curado CU-200 Line- McCoy Mean Green 17lb mono Lure- Assalt Salt Stick 4” Weightless – Watermelon red Lure- KickerFish, Bird Dog TX-Rig – Watermelon red Black Bass: The Lake is at normal pool, the spawn is all but done. You can find some fish on the south end that are still on beds. If you see a lot of activity in the backs of the creeks don’t even bother to go to the back. All you find are the carp doing their thing. That will be a good sign that the bass have done their thing and have moved back to about 5 to 7 ft of water. Also as you go into the major creeks start at the secondary points. A few spots that are working well are Long Arm Branch, Split Creek, TXI and Big Cedar Creek, up around the bull rushes. Up in Split Creek you will want to work the bulk heads and a few of the outer boat docks close to the creek channel. We caught a few fish in this area working a Watermelon-Red 4” Assalt Stick ( around the bank and secondary points. Another area to look at is Church House Cove or Big Buck, which is what it’s called on the Lake Products Map. Target the bull rushes with peppergrass and work the outside edges. Remember there are no marked boat lanes on the lake. I want to let every one know there is a great tool out there available to help in you on either your weekend fishing trip or if you’re a tournament fisherman. You need to check my Aerial Video on the lake. You can see the lake in such a different way. I’d like to take the time to thank the fine folks at Oak Cove Marina 903-872-0888 and my Sponsors: Hookhider Rods, S.O.B. Lures, Carolina Lunker Sauce, Assalt Baits, McCoy Fishing Line, Kicker Fish Bait Co, Sewin’ Sam Outdoor Wear, and West Boats.
