Depth: 1 ft below normal Water Temp: 84.3 to 86.9 Forecast: Sunny high of 103 winds 5 to 15 mphs out of the east Boat Ramp: Oak Cove Marina Fishing Report: Sunday, August 13, 2000 (dated fished August 12, 2000) Black Bass: I have start out by saying it was tough fishing. Started fishing top water around the north side of Hickey Island on the roadbed. There were a few fish breaking water including sand bass schooling but not a bite to speak of. We rolled up went to Prairie Creek fished the tank dam and the main point. Went towards the back of the creek, fished d the stick-ups by the beaver dam picked up one fish on a Red Shad worm. Also got a pretty good bite on a( Lunker City) Hydro-Tail Plum Haze color. But wasn’t able to get the fish in the boat it broke me off. Though out the day get several bites but every short and quick. They would hold it long enough to set the hook. Fish the deep water in back of Grape in some 20-ft water, the only thing we found there was some snakes. All the grass that grew up when the lake was down is now under water. This area should be real good once the heat lets up. Ran over to bubble lane found fish holding in about 15ft of water, but they just wouldn’t turn on. Tell next week Safe Fishing and Tight lines.
