You really need to pay attention where you run on the lake. As we rolls into October you’ll want to be working the creeks and roadbeds. Here are a few that can help you, but they are all located on the Richland Arm and there is a lot of Timber to watch out for. Grape Creek, Crab Creek, Three Fingers (aka Church House Cove), Winkler Creek, Reka Creek, and TXI (aka Pond Creek) are safe bets for finding your best catches. Head for the shallow water from 2-10 ft depth paying close attention to the lay downs and grass. Also you can’t forget a 3/8 oz with 2 gold willow leaf spinnerbait with a little blue tint in the skirt. This color here is one hot colors on the lake. If you run into Patterson Lake you MUST be careful, but if your able to make your back to the lake it will be worth your while. Head for the shallow water from 2-10 ft wherever there is grass/timber. You also want to try a another new scent product call Lunker Sauce (www.lunkersauce.com). It has an applicator just like shoe polish applicator, there is not a mess working with it and this stuff stays with your bait BIG TIME. All these areas I mentioned are off the lake products maps. If you would like help in finding any of these stops drop me a line or call me and I would be happy to e-mail you the GPS coordinates. If you’re on the water and you get hungry, try the restaurant at Oak Cove Marina off the Hwy 287 Bridge to the south. They have some of the best hamburgers and steak fingers on the water, and they’ve just added some terrific homemade desserts. They also have motel rooms, R.V. hook-ups, fishing pier, camping and gas on the water. To contact Oak Cove about tournaments, guide service or rooms call 903-872-0888. Be careful on the water, as you know there are no true boat lanes on the lake. If you have any questions please give me a call or drop me an e-mail. We also have a video out on the lake, which is a great tool to see the lake before you burn a tank of gas to find the fish. Check out my website www.schmidtsbigbass.com to get more info on the video. Also in closing I would like to say that some of the products in this report can be found at Gander Mountain outdoor store in Corsicana. It’s located at I-45 and Hwy 287 at exit 229. Gander Mountain is a mega store and will be able take care of your fishing, hunting and all other outdoor needs. And always please wear a life jacket when running the big motor and kill switch. I’d like to take the time to thank the fine folks at Oak Cove Marina 903-872-0888 and my Sponsors: Hookhider Rods, S.O.B.
