Fishing Report Lake Texoma. Saturday, April 21, 2001. Lake level: 616.35. Water Temperature: 61 degrees. Water clarity: Clear. Not generating. Floodgates: Closed. Weather: low 65 / high 78, overcast/very windy / gusting to 28mph. Fishing time: Friday, 7:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. The question I am always asked, “when is the best time to striper fish?” well…. now is the time!!! Striper fishing using live bait cannot get better than right now. I strongly suggest you get the boat out of storage or call your favorite guide and enjoy this great fishing while it lasts. We got out early again today trying to catch our fish before the high winds got up. Stripers are schooling together real good. Anchoring in 40’ to 55’ along just the slightest sign of structure and using shiners works real well. The north side of the lake produced the largest catches with limits up to six pounds for our four boats. The next good rain west and north of us should complete the spawn. From now thru the spawn striper fishing will be at it’s best on Lake Texoma. Come enjoy the fun and excitement of reeling in freshwaters hardest fighting fish. Be safe and respect the other fishermen. Picture of 04/12/01 catch.
