Not every tournament starts at a boat ramp.
Some begin with a pair of boots on the bank, a handful of lures in your pocket, and just enough time to make it count.
That’s the idea behind the Bass Grabbers Bank Tournament Trail—a grassroots kind of competition that strips fishing down to what it’s always been: angler versus water, three hours to figure it out.
And right now, they’re looking for a few more folks willing to step up and give it a go.
The Bass Grabbers circuit is built around simple, once-a-month events held across North Texas. Each tournament runs just three hours—long enough to test your instincts, short enough to keep things moving. It’s fishing in its purest form, where every cast matters and every decision counts.
There are three divisions to choose from—ponds, streams, and lakes—each offering four events throughout the year. No boats. No electronics. Just bank access and whatever you can carry with you.
At ten dollars an entry, it’s about as honest a competition as you’ll find.
Winners are determined by length, with the biggest fish of the day taking the prize—winner take all. At the end of the season, competitors come together for a championship event held the day after the December finale, giving everyone one last shot at closing the year strong.
And maybe the best part?
It’s open to just about anyone.
Kids can compete right alongside seasoned anglers, learning the rhythm of the water and the feel of a bite without ever stepping foot on a boat. It’s the kind of format that reminds you how many great fishermen started exactly this way—on the bank, figuring things out one cast at a time.
Because in the end, it’s not about how far you can run across a lake…
It’s about what you can do with a rod in your hand, a stretch of shoreline in front of you,
and three hours to make it happen.
