The bass fishing can be feast or famine right now on Rayburn. If you are in the right place using the right bait you can catch a lot of fish. If you are throwing the wrong bait, you would swear there is not a bass around. The bass are being caught anywhere from 2ft deep out to 20ft. There will be a fish in the bushes until the level gets below pool. However, there is already a lot of fish in the grass. They are on the inside edge, in, over, and on the outside edges of the grass. Top water baits, wacky worms, senkos, TX rigs, Carolina rigs and jigs are all catching fish. The bigger fish should start stacking up as the grass is getting closer to the surface. Both mid lake and the south end are producing good fish. The crappie are still on the edges of the grass but should be moving to brush piles within the next 4 weeks. We are still catching some hybreds and whites on windy grass point early. Road runners and jigs in white or chartruese have been the best. Good luck out there.
