Toledo Bend Bass Fishing Report February 6, 2003

Lake Level: 171.99 ft, (172 ft high pool) slowly falling Clarity: Muddy to stained on the North End clearing further south Temp: upper 40s to lower 50s, water is starting to gradually warm. A lot of water still coming into the lake but the Authority is releasing a lot of water creating a small fall in the level. The Black Bass bite is still slow but getting better every day. Five fish stringers up to 22 lbs on 1/2 to 1 oz spinner baits slow rolled from bank shallow to 7 ft of water on inside and outside grass lines, jigs in black/blue or camo pitched in 2 to 3 ft bushes and 1/2 to 3/4 oz crawfish and chartreuse traps fished in 5 to 7 ft grass clumps working best. As the water continues to warm the bass will become more active in anticipation of the spawn. Good reports of White Bass coming in off the river above and below the Logansport bridge. Concentrate on the sand bars, and flooded sloughs with live Crawfish, Rinky Dink tail spinners, road runners, chrome traps and slab spoons. Good reports of large Crappie coming in off river channel proper. Concentrate on the edges of the flooded sloughs. Shiners and jigs working best when fished over brush. Nows the time to book your spring trip to get the dates you want.

Water Temp: 50s
