The early morning top water bite pretty good, up in the shallow water. Fishing around the north end of Hickey Island. We worked the roadbed and tree line. We fished with a White S.O.B Pop-R throwing up next to the tree line. Work it across the roadbed. Coming off the roadbed next to the island working the shallow point which was a grass on it its been holding fish. Once the top water bite has turned off we changed over to a Carolina-Rig. Using a ½oz sinker and a black swivel and a 2/0 Mustad hook on a 24 to 36in liter. The action was real good. All water that we fished in this area is any where from 2 ft to 10 ft. Big Cedar, Goat Point and Hickey island are all north of the Hwy 287 bridge and Jones Branch, Crab Creek are all south. The fishing was really taking off in these area’s you just want to look for the grass and the pockets by the grass this seems to be the key.
